Peter Edge

Peter Edge is a Bass-Baritone in his first year of Masters at the Royal College of Music, London, under the tutelage of Peter Savidge and Gary Matthewman. Peter graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, in 2017, with a First Class Honours Degree. Competition successes include the International Medal at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, RNCM Freckleton Prize and the Doherty Cup for Singing. Peter also achieved Highly Commended in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Competition.

Opera roles include Alfio (Cavalleria Rusticana), Gontran (La Vie Parisienne), Snug (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Pooh-Bah (The Mikado), Robin (Ruddygore), Papageno (Die Zauberflote) and Masetto (Don Giovanni) - with Opera Loki, where Peter toured France and the UK. He has also performed scenes of Un Giorno di Regno (Tesoriere), Cenerentola (Alidoro), Lakme (Frederic) and Cosi Fan Tutte (Guglielmo). Peter performed in the chorus of The Merry Widow, Otello and Simon Boccenegra with the RNCM and was a Young Artist of Longborough Festival Opera this Summer. Peter is also in demand as an oratorio soloist, primarily with societies around Cheshire, and has recently performed Bach’s Magnificat & St John Passion, Brahm’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem. His next performances include Handel’s Judas Maccabeus, Haydn’s Creation and Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

Peter made his TV debut on S4C, at Llangollen, and also appeared in the BBC Film: Florence Foster Jenkins. Peter regularly sings on live BBC Radio 4, with the BBC Daily Service Singers, and has performed on BBC Radio 3. In September, Peter was invited to be interviewed and perform live on BBC Radio 3’s live drive time show: In Tune, with presenter Sean Rafferty.
Peter is also passionate about performing chamber music and is an alumnus of Harry Christopher’s Genesis Sixteen. With Genesis Peter performed at the Bridgewater Hall, St Martin’s in the Field’s, the BBC Broadcasting House and HamptonCourt Palace. Peter returned to Genesis in October 2016, to sing in Cumnock Music Festival under the directorship of composer James Macmillan. Peter also regularly sings for Manchester Cathedral and live on Radio Four, with the BBC Daily Service Singers. Recent notable ensemble performances include the BBC Ascension Day Service, Hans Zimmer Live Tour and the Chestertons Dogs Trust charity event.
